'Home' has come to Shipston.
You may have been wondering what has replaced the old optician's shop in Sheep Street? Well, wonder no more.
'Home', a new lifestyle shop for Warwickshire, opened its doors on 11th June.
Proprietor, Lucy Holmes, aged 48 has 32 years’ retail experience, having been one of the youngest people to ever manage a Laura Ashley retail outlet in London’s retailing Mecca the West End aged just 19. After raising a family in the noughties, Lucy returned to work managing several different shops in Chipping Norton. where she worked for 4 years, and, most recently, gained additional retail experience by working at John Lewis, Cambridge, while she began to write her business plan.
Lucy says the shop will be home to an eclectic mix of products: Ladies clothing, soft furnishings, and home interior products, with some gifts for men and women.
The stock will be gift orientated, with items catering for all budgets, ranging from t-lights at £6.95 to oversized vases at £150. There will be Home branded products; jewellery; clothing; gifts; cards and wrapping paper.
Lucy —spent most of her adult life in Oxfordshire — has always had a strong desire to return 'home' to put into practice what she has learned throughout her distinguished career.
So, what’s in a name?
When thinking of what to call the business, not only did she like the word, “Home” it also had so much meaning for her and what it represented to Family and friends she questioned in market research.
Lucy, said: "All I want for the business is obviously to earn a living, but also to be part of the community. I would like people to feel they can come in for a chat and/or browse; I want everyone to feel welcome."
